After a few months without a kit supplier, the Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol (Uruguayan Football Association) has signed a deal with Nike to manufacture kits for their national teams.
AUF made the announcement via their social media platforms and website earlier this week. It will take effect in time for Uruguay to wear Nike kits in the 2024 Copa América, taking place this June and July in the United States.
The Uruguayan Football Association announces that the Nike company was selected to supply the clothing that the Uruguayan team will wear in the CONMEBOL Copa América USA 2024.
AUF’s executive committee adopted the decision after a call for open applications that was launched on 15 March.

Puma’s contract with Uruguayan national teams expired in 2023. AUF manufactured kits internally in the period between contracts.
The AUF’s first ever in-house production, which was unveiled in January of this year, celebrated Uruguay winning the gold in the football competition at the Paris Summer Olympics back in 1924.
AUF released a second set of jerseys to be worn for the international matches played in March. Each jersey featured tonal stripes on both the front and rear.
Nevertheless, some national team players and coaches, particularly at the youth level, have been photographed still wearing Puma gear as late as 2024.
In 1928, the Uruguayan national men’s team won Olympic gold at Amsterdam. In 1930 they won their first FIFA World Cup at home, and in 1950 the championship in Brazil. And they’ve won the Copa América 15 times.
The Uruguay women’s team is less successful than its male counterparts. Its best international showing was a third-place finish in the 2006 Copa América Femenina.
