Finally, it happened. The Tropicana is closing in Las Vegas, with plans to implode the entire resort. We’ve got information about how to get your piece of Las Vegas History, redeem those vouchers and chips, as well as when you can expect the building coming down.
The Tropicana will not be forgotten just because it is no longer there. In fact, a lot of items that are still in the Tropicana will be donated or auctioned. This is all happening before the implosion of Tropicana this fall.

They closed down just a couple of weeks ago, and if you didn’t get a chance to come down and say goodbye, don’t worry… we have information on how you can still grab a piece of Tropicana history. Rumor has it that this building will be demolished this year as the Tropicana shuts down. On April 2, at 3am, the resort closed officially. This was just two days before it celebrated its 67th birthday. Leading up to the shutdown, the resort was busy working to save its history… teaming up with the Neon Museum, the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and the showgirl Museum, all helping to preserve sentimental items.
The property will have a demolition wall that is 10 feet high, covering over 5,000 foot and costing a half million dollars. This all leads to the implosion of October. Plans have been to build a new professional baseball stadium on nine of the 35 Acres available, with the rest of the property earmarked for a new casino resort… perhaps even a brand new Bally’s Las Vegas. However, in recent weeks rumors have been circulating that Bally’s may actually sell the property in order to fund its Chicago Casino ProjectThere is a $800 million deficit in the current budget.

You have until this July 31st to redeem any remaining casino chips and slot tickets you may still hold from the Tropicana. Oyo Las Vegas is right next to Tropicana. We don’t have a date set for the implosion but we do know a demolition group has filed permits in Clark County seeking an Operating Permit to Control Dust During Implosion.
