Nevada residents are looking for a share of the $1B in lottery payouts. A recent survey revealed that an overwhelming 75% Nevadans questioned wanted to see a Lottery In the state.
Only 13% were opposed to the idea of a Nevada-based lottery. According to a poll by Noble Predictive Insights Nevada Public Opinion Pulse, 12% were unsure of their opinion or said that they did not have one.
All major political parties support a lottery. The poll revealed that 82% Democrats, 74% Republicans, and 70% of independents wanted a Nevada Lottery.
The results are based on 829 Nevada registered voters who answered questions. The survey took place from February 27 to March 5.
A lottery is illegal in Nevada under the state constitution. A constitutional amendment is required to allow a lottery in Nevada.
This move has been attempted 24 times. In 2023, it was the last time. But it was never successful.
Joint Resolution 5 was proposed by Assemblyman Cameron “C.H.” Miller, D. Las Vegas, was approved by the state legislature last year. The next step is to have the 2025 vote approved by lawmakers.
Miller’s proposal would increase the number of youth mental health services funded by money raised from the sale of lottery tickets.
According to Las Vegas TV station KTNV all assembly member seats will be up for election in November. It is unclear if the winning legislative candidates will support a lottery.
If the Assembly were again to pass the lottery legislation in 2025, they would need Senate approval.
Voters’ input
If the resolution is approved, it will be sent to the voters for a vote in 2026.
If the measure is approved by the residents, it will be sent back to the state legislature for approval in 2027. The state legislature will need to approve yet another bill.

Currently, Nevada residents looking to buy lottery tickets are often found in convenience stores in border states, such as Arizona and California.
