The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, a Single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, found themselves with a bit of a mess on their hands when they unveiled their Spanish-language “Copa de la Diversión” identity this week. The brand is a tribute to the Mariachi Jacket that Dodgers reliever Joe Kelly donned to the White House to celebrate the 2020 World Series.
The team was surprised when fans suggested they look up Urban Dictionary on social media after they unveiled the new brand on Thursday. If they had done so, they could have learned that Chaquetas has a second meaning—pertaining to the practice of intimate self indulgence.
According to LA Times The article below explains how to get started. Chuck Schilken said that the team did not create the brand alone. After initially pulling out the announcement from social networks, the Quakes decided that they would give it another try and embrace the name. After all, if it’s good enough for the most successful team in Major League Baseball history, it’s good enough for the Quakes…
The Quakes are set to perform as the Chaquetas April 13, May 16, and July 19.
