The new kit of French Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyonnais aims to bring together their fans as the rivers flowing through the city that they call home do, with the hope of uniting their supporters.
Olympique Lyonnais released the new Adidas jersey on their social media and website on May 15th. This kit features the traditional club white base, with wide red and blue stripes running down the middle. However, this new version fades them out into white using a gradient halftone pattern.
Combining the authenticity of the club with that of the city, at the heart of a modern design, the jersey is inspired by the two rivers that cross the metropolis: the Rhône and the Saône.
The image is a river with its tributaries. In this design, red and blue stripes begin at a V-neckline, and continue down the body of the jersey, until they come together in the centre, representing the Confluence of Lyon.

The collar has a graphic that reads: “ENTRE RHÔNE & SAÔNE” (“Between the Rhône and the Saône”) and maps out the two rivers in red and blue. This graphic’s shape, along with the embellishments on the corners are “an aesthetic nod to the city street signs”.
The shirt is white with blue Adidas shoulder stripes and a collar. The large swoops that extend from the side of the jersey to the bottom of the shorts match the colors of the stripes in the middle. The socks have blue accents on white.
The men’s Olympique Lyonnais team will wear Emirates’ logo on their front shirts. Meanwhile, the women’s Olympique Lyonnais team is still sponsored by Mastercard.
The announcement on Wednesday did not indicate whether Lyon would wear their new kit in any of the remaining matches for 2023-24. The men’s side will play RC Strasbourg on May 19 in the Ligue 1 Finale. They also have a match against Paris Saint-Germain The Coupe de France Final will be held on May 25, 2015. On Friday, May 17 the women’s squad will play PSG at their final D1 Arkema game, and on Saturday 25th, they’ll face FC Barcelona in UEFA Women’s Champions League Final.
