It could be one of the most stupid sporting events ever. As I have blogged earlierBut there is some benefit to be gained from social media. Here is where we can separate the boys from the men (a phrase Harrison Butker loves). Not all videos for schedule releases are equal. Some of them are actually terrible. You look at me, New York Jets, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, Las Vegas RaidersSome of them were just about hydraulic presses, while others had more to do with art and drawing.
Korked Bats does not do honorable mentions. There is little honor in an honourable mention. But if we did…
(in no particular order)
Honorable Mention – Pittsburgh Steelers
Okay, I love a good joke. It was hard to not laugh at this joke. You guys, low-hanging fruits are still a great source of food.
Honorable Mention – Philadelphia Eagles
Editing is excellent. There is no mention of or reference to the fact the Titans gave AJ Brown away for free on the night they drafted him? Perfect. No notes.
Honorable Mention – Minnesota Vikings
Apple’s keynotes used to be my favorite. I used to love watching Apple keynotes.Read: Before Steve Jobs’s passing). This was an excellent spoof and it’s well done. Vikes, thanks for the hat-tip.
Honorable Mention – Miami Dolphins
The video was simple and took less than 6 minutes. Respect, Miami.
6. Buffalo Bills
The difficulty of getting players to behave is very high and it usually doesn’t work (See the Bears’, Packers’, and Patriots’ schedulesI will be honest here, Josh Allen nails the semi-awkward part. I was sceptical and he surprised me. This is a schedule for the regular season. It would be great to see it for the postseason.
5. Tennessee Titans
It’s true what they say: sequels are never as good. This video has some great moments, but it is extremely difficult to get players to react, as last year’s video for the schedule release was flawless. It was not as good this year. Zoolander 2 Then, Terminator 2.
4. Dallas Cowboys
It’s hard to praise the Titans more than already do the Dallas Cowboys who have made fewer Super Bowl and championship games in the past 25 years. But I must admit that this commercial was good. This was a creative and original piece that capitalizes on a trend. It is also well-executed. The humor was good, but it did seem like some of the jokes were scripted. Cowboys, this is the last time I will ever say it, but you did a great job.
3. Atlanta Falcons
It’s fine with me if there is any reference to NFL Street. This video is especially impressive when you consider how many Easter eggs it contains. Internet users appreciate attention to details. It’s nice that the Falcons are recognized for more than just signing a new QB.
2. Detroit Lions
You can’t go wrong when you choose Detroiters boys. Particularly right now. They’re hilarious, so their stock is incredibly high. It was clear that neither man had come to zipline for its own sake. The whole thing was a lot of fun. It wasn’t like watching the Raiders.
1, Los Angeles Chargers
It’s no surprise. Chargers Social Media Team is best in business. In so many ways. They seem to be the top (or, at least, second) every year in their schedule. This is a great account to start with P.F. Changs.
Like… Like…
Or…
Or…
Or the absolute cherry on top…
The Butker story was just released a few days before. Animators were working around the clock to get it done.
