Play the accordion. The Kenosha Kingfish of the collegiate summer league hope to become the Polka Kings when they play one game as the Kenosha Kickers this season.
The Kenosha Kickers is a fictional polka group from the movie Home Alone. They are led by John Candy as Gus Polinski – the “Polka king of the Midwest.” In the movie, after their flight was cancelled due to snowfall, the band rents moving trucks and drives from Scranton in Pennsylvania to Milwaukee which is of course located in the home state Wisconsin of the Kingfish.
The suite of logos designed by Tony Horning is in the maroon, yellow and black that the band chose and features a combination between musical instruments and baseball. The primary logo features a bassdrum with baseball seams on its skin. A clarinet is crossed with a bat and is placed behind it. A secondary mark continues Wisconsin’s longstanding tradition with clever baseball glove logos, with an accordion and a baseball forming a glove.
The Kingfish will celebrate Home Alone Night on July 6, when it is likely that the weather in Chicago will be less snowy.
