New York Jets’ “Legacy” throwbacks were officially given full-time status on the road and a corresponding home green and alternate black uniforms.

New York’s Gotham Green helmets were replaced with black masks and logos for the two road games played last year. For a retro white “JETS’ logo and a facemaskItalicized, it features the jet that extends from the letter “J.” The team has reverted to its primary logo, but it’s been modified slightly with bolder type, tighter spacing, and an improved pointed nose.
The Jets did not wear black uniforms. The most recent collection was introduced in 2019.So the black alternative follows the template of the other versions, with the addition of white numbers inscribed in green. There are also green stripes along the sleeves and on the collar.

The Jets’ original uniforms from 1978-89 are now complemented by a set of solid-white-striped green pants. Green pants were only available from 1990-96, and from 2002-23.

It’s interesting to note that the Jets unveiled their new logo on Monday, the 61st year since the New York Titans changed their name from the Titans. The franchise didn’t use the occasion to reveal an alternate design or throwback.
New York was presented with the option of adding a third helmet to the rotation as one of four teams unveiling new uniforms this offseason – The NFL has revised their policy and now requires the rest of league to wait until 2025. – but chose not to do so.
