Major League Soccer, in partnership with Adidas has once again launched new kits designed to promote environmental concerns. But this season these kits won’t actually be worn during games.
MLS released the One Planet Kits on Tuesday, 9 April, as part of their seventh annual Greener Goals Week of Service. It aims to raise awareness of environmental issues within the soccer community.
These pre-match tops, made out of recycled materials, come in 3 distinct colours: light blue for water; tan to match soils. The green shirt has a pattern of flowers and leaves in full colour, while the tan or blue kit is toned down.
White accents appear on the sides and sleeves of both the blue and the green jerseys. Sponsor logos and club emblems are also white on these jerseys. Adidas collars and stripes are either navy blue or dark black on all three.
MLS was criticized in the past for having too little contrast when it comes to kit choices.
